Drone Selection Guide

|NuomiAdmin
Use this guide to quickly select the right industrial drone based on your mission requirements, payload weight, flight endurance, and working environment.

1. Core Selection Criteria

Follow these four key factors to narrow down your drone model:

Payload Weight

  • Under 2 kg – Light cameras, thermal cameras, and small sensors (4-axis lightweight drones)
  • 2 kg – 8 kg – Survey payloads, speakers, and basic drop devices (medium 6-axis drones)
  • Over 8 kg – Heavy delivery, multi-sensor systems, and fire-fighting equipment (heavy 6-axis / 8-axis drones)

Flight Endurance

  • 15–25 minutes – Short-range patrol and fixed-point inspection
  • 25–40 minutes – Large-area mapping, power line inspection
  • 40+ minutes – Long-distance pipeline, forest, and large-scale missions

Working Environment

  • Plain and urban areas – Standard configuration
  • Mountain and high-altitude areas – High wind resistance and altitude-optimized models
  • Dust or humid conditions – IP54 or higher protection grade

Positioning Accuracy

  • General inspection – Standard GPS positioning
  • Mapping and precision operations – RTK high-precision positioning required

2. Application-Based Model Recommendation

Application Scenario
Recommended Drone Type
Key Requirements
Power & Solar Inspection
Medium 6-axis
RTK positioning, level 5+ wind resistance, thermal payload, 28+ min endurance
Mapping & Surveying
Medium / Heavy 6-axis
RTK stability, gimbal compatibility, high flight stability
Agricultural Operations
Heavy multi-rotor
Large payload, dust & water resistance, fast battery swap
Urban Security Patrol
4-axis / 6-axis medium drone
Long-range transmission, day & night dual camera
Emergency Rescue
Heavy 6-axis / 8-axis
Heavy delivery capability, wide temperature tolerance, level 6 wind resistance
Oil & Gas Pipeline Inspection
Long-endurance 6-axis
Long-distance communication, gas sensor compatibility

3. Key Parameter Selection Tips

  • Always refer to loaded endurance – Flight time drops significantly with full payload
  • High-altitude areas require power redundancy – Motor power decreases at high elevation
  • Choose 6-axis or 8-axis for windy environments – 4-axis drones lack stability above level 5 wind
  • 900 MHz link for complex terrain – 2.4 GHz signal is easily blocked by mountains and forests
  • 6-axis drones offer the best balance – Stable performance and lower maintenance cost for most industrial scenarios

4. Pre-Purchase Checklist

  • Confirm maximum payload weight
  • Confirm operating altitude and maximum wind level
  • Verify required full-load flight time
  • Determine whether RTK precision is needed
  • Check high / low temperature working conditions
  • Confirm waterproof and dustproof requirements
  • Confirm remote control and video transmission distance
  • Check compatibility with cameras, sensors, and accessories
