AM32 ESC Firmware & Flashing Guide
This guide explains the firmware types used with MAXYOND AM32 ESCs, how to obtain the appropriate firmware, and the available methods for flashing or updating the ESC firmware.
MAXYOND AM32 ESCs are normally shipped with the required firmware already installed. In most cases, users do not need to reflash the Bootloader firmware and only need to update the main ESC firmware when required.
Before You Begin
Please identify your ESC model and confirm the correct firmware before flashing.
Different flashing methods apply depending on whether the system uses a flight controller or an AM32 USB Configurator.
1.Required Software
Bootloader Programming Tool
- Software:ArteryICPProgrammer_V3.0.24
- File: ArteryICPProgrammer_V3.0.24.zip
AM32 ESC Configuration Tool
- Web Version: am32.ca
- Offline Version: config tool 1.86.zip
Betaflight Configurator
- Web Version:Betaflight
- Offline Version:betaflight-configurator_10.10.0_win64-installer.exe
2. Firmware
2.1 Bootloader Firmware
The Bootloader is also referred to as the boot firmware. According to the source document, all current AM32 ESCs supplied by the company use the same Bootloader firmware.
· Bootloader file: AM32_F421_BOOTLOADER_PB4_V14.hex
2.2 Main ESC Firmware

2.3 Downloading the Latest Firmware from GitHub
The source document also provides the following method for downloading updated firmware from the AM32 GitHub repository: GitHub - am32-firmware/AM32.
1. Open the AM32 GitHub repository and select the required firmware release on the right side of the page.
2. Locate the corresponding AM32_MAXKGO firmware file and download it.

3. Main ESC Firmware Flashing
All firmware is flashed before shipment by default. In normal use, customers generally do not need to reflash the Bootloader firmware and only need to update the main ESC firmware when required.
The flashing method depends on the tools available
- Fixed-wing aircraft, RC cars, RC boats, and other non-multirotor applications without a flight controller: use an AM32 USB Configurator for firmware flashing and configuration.
- Multirotor applications: connect the flight controller via USB and use the AM32 online configurator for firmware updating and configuration.
3.1. Method A — Flashing with an AM32 USB Configurator
3.1.1 Required Tool
- USB cable
- AM32 USB Configurator
- Battery or regulated power supply
- Offline Config Tool
|
Note: According to the source instructions, using the AM32 USB Configurator with the web-based AM32 configurator (am32.ca) may cause the flashing process to become stuck after reaching 100%. Use the offline version for flashing with the AM32 USB Configurator. |
The flashing process differs slightly depending on whether the ESC already contains main firmware. The example below shows an ESC with Bootloader firmware but no main firmware.

3.1.3 Post-Flashing Check
If the configurator shows no firmware version after flashing and displays a yellow warning message, close the configurator page, disconnect the ESC and its power supply, and then reconnect them. The display should return to normal after reconnection.

3.2 Method B — Flashing Through a Flight Controller
This method is suitable for multirotor applications using a flight controller.
3.2.1 Required tools:
- USB cable
- Multirotor flight controller
- Battery or regulated power supply
- AM32 Web Configurator: am32.ca
3.2.2 Preparation
Open https://am32.ca/configurator in a Chromium-based browser such as Chrome or Edge.
- Connect the flight controller to USB, then power the ESC.
- Do not install propellers while performing this procedure, to prevent injury caused by unexpected motor rotation.
- The ESC must have Bootloader firmware. This method can be used whether or not the main firmware is currently installed.
3.2.3 Firmware Flashing Options
